As a child, the jewelry designer, Candee Lyons favorite pastime was designing outfits for paper dolls and sewing clothes for them. During college in upstate New York, her sociology major did not leave much room for art classes although she was captivated by the one art class that she managed to squeeze in.
Candee spent 20 years as owner of "Credentials Verification Service", a company which processed background checks for the rental and employment industry. Needing an artistic outlet, in her spare time from 1985 to 2003, Candee had a business selling vintage clothes in an Antique Mall near Music Row in Nashville,Tennessee.
Loved doing quirky displays, this gave her an opportunity to rework many pieces in order to salvage them.........almost as much fun as designing those paper doll clothes! During this adventure, she also discovered the love of vintage jewelry. Started to restringing and restyling discarded broken pieces, this lead to creating her own jewelry designs.
The only regret Candee said was "why did I not follow my passion for design sooner. (And so it seems that I must live vicariously through Adrian Eric Morales and it is with great enthusiasm that I will follow his career!). Ah....Candee is so lovely. It is never too late to follow your dreams and passions. Her website is fairly new, but you can see some of her stuff at www.candeelyonshandmadejewelry.com
